At Magai, usage is a monthly credit balance. Every message, image, or video draws from that balance based on the model you use. Understanding how usage is calculated helps you pick the right model and stay within your plan.
How usage is calculated
For chat, usage is based on the words the model generates, multiplied by that model's usage multiplier:
Formula: [words generated] × [model multiplier] = [usage charged]
A 0.8× model (the Magai default, Claude Sonnet 5) uses less of your balance than a 1× model. A 3× or higher model is premium and is best reserved for harder work.
Example: 100 words on a 1.2× model uses 120 words of your monthly balance.
Why multipliers differ
Each model has a distinct multiplier that reflects its relative cost. Lighter, faster models stretch your plan further. More capable models cost more per generation.
