Why Can't I Type in the Prompt Box?

How to solve not being able to type in the prompt box.

Written by Paul Gaurano

If you cannot type in the prompt box in Magai, it is usually one of two things: you have reached your monthly usage limit, or you selected an image or video model that requires an attachment before it will accept a prompt.

Usage limit

When you reach your monthly usage limit, Magai prevents new prompts until your usage resets, you top up, or you upgrade. You can still view old chats.

How to check your usage

  1. Open the Usage page from your Magai account menu

  2. Review how much of your monthly balance you have used

  3. Confirm whether you have reached your plan limit

If you have hit the limit

  • Wait for reset: your usage balance restores at the start of the next billing cycle

  • Top up: add usage for the current month with a $5, $10, or $20 top-up, without changing plans

  • Upgrade: move to a higher plan with more included usage

Image or video models that require an attachment

Some image and video models only work when a file is attached. If one of those models is selected and nothing is attached, the prompt box can stay disabled. This is current product behavior.

To continue:

  • Attach the required image or video, then try typing again

  • Or switch to a chat model that does not require an attachment

Additional troubleshooting

If you still have usage available, an attachment is not required (or one is already attached), and the box is still locked:

  • Refresh the browser

  • Clear cache and cookies

  • Try a different browser or device

  • Check your internet connection
