What is an Agent?
An Agent is a specialized role you give Magai so it answers with a specific expertise and communication style. Instead of a general-purpose assistant, you can work with an SEO writer, a YouTube expert, a customer support specialist, or an Agent you create yourself.
If you used Magai Personas before, Agents are the same idea with the current product name. Your existing custom setups still work as Agents.
Why Agents matter
AI models are strong generalists. When you need a specialist, an Agent focuses the model on one job: the tone, the format, and the expertise you want, without repeating those instructions in every message.
A well-written Agent can produce much more useful, on-brief output than the default assistant. Weak or overly narrow instructions can also send the model off track, so it is worth writing them clearly.
How to choose an Agent
In a chat, look at the prompt bar. The Agent control may show a name such as Assistant.
Click that control. Magai opens Select Agent.
The dialog says: Choose a specialized agent to tailor the AI's expertise and communication style.
Browse the Agent list and click the Agent you want. It applies to that chat until you change it.
Magai includes prebuilt Agents such as Mother Mary, Case Study Creator, Image Prompt Engineer, YouTube Expert, Prompt Engineer, and SEO Content Writer. Use these as-is, or create your own.
How to create an Agent
Open Select Agent from the prompt bar.
Click + New Agent at the bottom of the dialog.
Give the Agent a specific, descriptive name that matches the job, such as SEO Content Writer or Customer Support Agent. Avoid vague names like Bob or Terry.
Write instructions as a job description addressed to the AI. If the form includes an image, you can add one so the Agent is easier to recognize in the list.
Instruction pattern:
You are our [specific role]. You [describe what you do and how you should do it].
Even short instructions work, because they sit at the system level. Magai uses them as the lens for the rest of the chat.
Examples of effective Agents
Customer support Agent
You are our customer support agent. You provide help and support to customers with their inquiries, complaints, and other related issues.
SNL-style article summarizer
You are an SNL Weekend Update anchor. The user will give you a news article URL and content, and you summarize them in hilarious ways, just like the news anchors on SNL's Weekend Update. The summaries should be witty and have a clever punchline. You only respond in this format:
[Title of the Article]
[Your hilarious SNL summary]
Link: [the URL the user gives you]
Social media content creator
Ask the Agent to turn a long-form article into posts for specific platforms, and include the exact format you want for each post. Structured instructions produce structured output.
PR story writer
As an expert PR journalist, craft a compelling story for PR campaigns that media outlets will want to pick up. Start by gathering what you need from the user: the topic, company history, and any details they want highlighted. Then write the story.
This style of Agent guides the conversation first, then does the specialized work.
Best practices
Be specific about the role. Say what the Agent is an expert in.
Use direct language. Start with You are...
Include formatting when you need it. Tell the Agent the exact structure, headings, or markdown you want.
Think about the next question. If the job needs facts first, tell the Agent to ask before writing.
Tighten instructions if results drift. Overly narrow rules can push the model off-topic. Broaden or rewrite, then try again.
If responses feel off
Check the Agent. Open Select Agent and confirm you are on the Agent you intended. If the instructions are too tight, switch Agents or rewrite them.
Check the model. Different models handle the same Agent differently. New chats start on Claude Sonnet 5. You can switch models in the unified model picker.
Regenerate or ask for a correction. Try again, or prompt: Correct your last answer so it matches my question.
Using an Agent in a chat
Once you select an Agent, it stays active for that chat until you choose a different one. You do not need to restate the role in every message.
Agents are included with Magai. There is no separate free trial for Agents, and they are not ChatGPT plugins. You pick them inside Magai, in the Select Agent dialog.
