Error: Could not connect to remote server

How to fix "could not connect to remote server" error in Magai

Written by Paul Gaurano

The “Could not connect to remote server” error means the AI provider for the model you selected did not finish and send a response back in time. Magai is not limited to ChatGPT — it routes each request to the provider for the model you picked. This is usually caused by one of two issues:

1. Large or complex prompt

Magai sends your prompt to the selected model's servers. The more you send in one request — a very long passage, many questions, large attachments, or a heavy image/video job — the longer that provider needs. The connection can time out before the response is complete.

2. Connection was interrupted

There was an interruption between Magai and the selected model's provider, or on your own internet connection. The request may not reach the servers, or the response may not return in time.

Tips to avoid this error

  1. Keep prompts focused. Start with one request, then follow up.

  2. Check your internet connection and try again. Waiting a few minutes often resolves a temporary provider or network issue.

  3. Try a different model if one provider is failing.

  4. Contact support from the in-app widget or [email protected] if it persists.
